Felix

Felix Jones is a special player. He has excelled everywhere he has played. He attended Booker T Washington HS in Tulsa Oklahoma. All he did his senior year was rush for over 2200 yards with 48 touchdowns. He averaged 11.1 yards per attempt(YPA)

From there he went to the University of Arkansas and in three years there he averaged..12.5 YPA ..7.1 YPA and 11.1 YPA. He also returned four kickoffs for touchdowns.

He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round and in his rookie year he averaged 8.9 YPA, before being injured. So far this season he has averaged 10.1 YPA..

On Sunday against the Carolina Panthers he strained a Posterior Cruciate Ligament(PCL). It is the ligament that protects the knee from bending backwards. It is usually strained by hitting the knee or bending it backward. Injuries of this type take about two weeks to heal. He is definately out against the Broncos. He may not play against the Chiefs. If not he has a bye week to heal. Then it is on against the Eagles.

He is a special player and here is hoping he returns a 100%. I hope they don't rush him back like last season.

Not too old to learn

This season has opened my eyes and changed some things I have believed in for a long time. Those being the Cowboys are a good team that just needs to stay healthy, Jerry Jones cares about winning and this team doesn't miss a strong coach. There are more but I will concentrate on these three.

The Cowboys are a good team that just needs to stay healthy
Like a lot of fans I was enraged when the media picked this team to finish 8-8 or 9-7. It is obvious now to me they were right. Losing players like Greg Ellis and relying on rookies or second year guys is a recipe for disaster. Especially when those rookies had no pedigree. The Cowboys are 0-0-0. No sacks, No interceptions and No fumble recoveries on defense. On offense, Romo looks lost. Something is wrong, I don't know what but something is seriously wrong. This team is dumb. They make the same mistakes over and over. Flozell is fined two weeks in a row. Players are out of position. Add they don't seem to be able to tackle and you get the picture

Jerry Jones cares about Winning
If he cares about winning it is only in the context of winning makes him more money. It has become painfully obvious this season that JJ cares about maximizing profits. Look at the decisions made. I can't think of one decision that was made that didn't save Jerry money. Greg Ellis had to go,saving the Cowboys 4 million Henry traded, saving another few. Retaining Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett makes no sense after their failures of last season. Until you think they are under contract and firing them would cost Jones additional millions.
Combine that with the Party Pass debacle, the hosing of long time season ticket holders and actually having a sponsor for training camp. A pattern has been finally revealed. Dollars are the driving force to Jerry. I loved watching Jerry take a bow when it was anounced the record crowd of over 105 thousand at the Giants game. Meanwhile over 15,000 fans who purchased a ticket were outside, barred by the Fire Marshall from entering. Jerry just smiled and took the money.

This team doesn't miss a strong coach
Somewhere in Florida Bill Parcells is smiling. I was one of the idiots who railed against him when he left town. Good riddance and don't let the door hit you, you know the rest. How wrong can wrong be? If ever a team needed a strong coach, this team does. Only two weeks into the season, Wade has admitted the secondary doesn't have all the formations down and he didn't have time to put in blitzes. WTF. Did I miss something? Didn't they have a training camp, OTA's and mini camps?
Watching Romo come off the field and hang his head was the worst. Not one time did Wade come over and get in his face or pat him on the back. Wade doesn't have a clue what to do when something goes wrong. Amazing since something seems to always go wrong with Wade's teams.
I do feel coaching changes will be made in the off season. Wade and Jason both have expiring contracts and Jerry looking to sell tickets will hire a high profile coach. This is the only reason a good business man would hire a good coach. That selling tickets thing again.

Hey Ex Cowboys..Just STFU!

Emmitt..Troy..Michael...and now Dorsett.. I
am so done with their going after a certain QB on this team..It is bad enough when fans or writers go after a current player..but is is downright classless for a retired player  to go after a current player. The problem is why? What is the reason?
.
Today, Dorsettsaid hee didn't understand why Romo ha beeen anointed. Anonite? He is the starting QB because he is the best option on the team. Sorry Tony, but Roger is old, as is Aikman nd Quiincy is being hunted by Dog the bounty hunter. So who would you like to see play? Brady, both Manning, Big Been, Brees, nd thhe other good QB'S ar alll under contract. So pray tell us mighty TD, who would you start?
.
I have had it with stupid remarks from ex players. While you are at it TD, why not call out MBIII or Felix Jones? Hey Witten alo suckks, how bout him?. The receivers are worthless and wow that DLine has't haad a sack. Hell no, call out the QB at a bad time in the season. Plus the anointed thing, who has done that. Where are the worshipers in the media? Romo getsmoree bad press than any player I have ever seen. Is your life so meaningless that you need the attention. Hey go rob a bank or go on I am a celebrity, get me outta here..Dancing with the Stars is an option. Just STFU is another.

If I could actually get into my TD jersey, I wouldn't anymore. Along with Emmit I have lost some respect for them. Petty and hurt full are to words that come to mind..Along with unnecessary. They should be ashamed of themselves. Then again both players finished their careers on other teams. Bout right.

Idiotic Cowboy Fans

I am on my last nerve with Cowboy fans. Writers are about as bad, but they are paid to spout dissent. Cowboy fans are, I believe the worst and most uneducated fans in all of sports. Let's examine the Giants loss on Sunday night and the reaction of the locals.

Tony Romo has fallen on the sword. He has admitted he lost the game and swears he will do better. The fans, of course, will have nothing to do with that. Tony is a loser and should be traded or cut as soon as possible. He has never won a game. He never will win a game. When he does win a game, it is because of some other player. I have read and heard all these reactions in the last 24 hours, since the loss. Forget the fact that Tony is 28-13 as a starter. Never mind telling anyone that he has only started 41 games in his still young career.  Why bring facts when opinions are all that matters. Why believe what you see when it is so much better to just close you eyes and yell.

Sunday the three major challengers for the NFC East, according to the pundits, all gave up over 30 points. The Eagles and Cowboys have excuses, they both had a lot of turnovers. The Giants committed no turnovers, had few penalties and yet, they gave up 31 points. How did this happen? NY has a vaunted defense and Dallas has the worst QB in the history of the NFL.

Those darn facts just keep getting in the way. Dallas with Tony Romo sucking, still manages to put up over 30 points in each of their first two games. In the first game, Tony Romo was actually nominated for NFL offensive player of the week. I bet no one asked the fans. They would have straightened out the NFL. Plus don't mention to this group of Phi Beta Knuckleheads that Dallas has scored their points without the defense causing one single turnover. That the offense has had to work harder for their points is of no matter.

Tony had a bad game. It happens but no amount of logic will deter the idiots that are the fans of the Cowboys. He has had more good games than bad and will in the future. This would be disaster for these dodo's. There is no joy for this group. When they win, it is because they got lucky or the team was horrible. The most amazing thing is, win or lose, play well or not, Tony is accorded the same scorn.

Finally. All teams lose. It is the second week and Dallas, New England, Philadelphia, Tennessee, Pittsburgh, and the Chargers, all contenders and all losers in week two. The difference is, all the other teams, they simply lost. The other team won. Except in Dallas where only Romo loses, not the defense or the offense. Romo is the end all and be all of hate in Dallas.

Romo by the Numbers

Tony Romo gets a lot of flack, some deserved but most is simply misconceptions. Some talk of his high profile girlfriends. From Carrie Underwood to Jessica Simpso to Miss Missouri. What can I say he likes hot blonds. So shoot us both for I am with him.

What makes no sense at all is the perception that he is somehow a failure or doesn't measure up..Poppycock. Let's look at the number and see what they tell us.

The all time QB in the NFL..based on QB Rating is Steve Young with a rating of 96.8
Second is Tony Romo with 95.7..Followed by Peyton Manning with a 94.7 and Kurt Warner with a 93.2
For reference..Troy Aikman's career rating is 81.6..Roger Staubach's is 83.4

Summary..The date is Sept 19,2009 and as of today, Tony Romo is the second highest rated QB of all time

In 2007 Tony Romo threw for 37 touch downs..The all time leader in a single season is Tom Brady..also 2007 with 50 TD'S.
Romo's 37 has only been tied or surpassed 8 times in the history of the NFL. Only 4 active players have more in one season. Peyton,Warner,Favre and Brady.
Only 2 Qb's have done this at an younger/same age. Favre 26 and Dan Marino 23 and 25

Summary..Tony Romo in his second season had one of the single best regular seasons in the history of the NFL.

Romo vs Aikman and Staubach

Romo has a higher Qb rating than either Aikman or Staubach..Romo has more Td's in a season than either Qb..
Aikman and Staubach have between them "5" Super Bowl wins..Romo hasn't won a playoff game.
The answer, I believe is on the other side of the ball..
Aikman in his 4 game run with 3 Super Bowls..had the #1..#2..#3..and #4 ranked defenses during that run..
Staubach..during the 6 year run with 2 Super Bowl wins..had the #3..#1..#3..#4..#1 and #1 ranked defenses..
Romo has ..since he became a starter..has had the #9..#4..#7 and # 15 ranked defenses..

Summary..If Romo had the same defenses that Romo and Staubach had..he too would have had a Ring..IMHO

Finally if you don't believe Defense makes a difference...The last 4 teams to win a Super Bowl had a Defensive ranking(yards allowed) of #1 #4 #4 and #1..

In the history of the Super Bowl only 2 teams have won a Super Bowl with a Defense ranked worse than # 8..The New England Patriots and the Indianapolis Colts..

Scatter shooting Dallas vs New York

1)...The roof will be open..and the rules read if it is open at the start of the game..It must remain open the whole game..I was hoping for crowd noise..The end zone doors will also be open
2)...Felix Jones and Tony Romo are at full strength..Good news for Cowboy fans..and not so good for Giant fans..
3)...Regular season..With Romo as QB..The Cowboys are 4-0 against the Giants
4)...Maybe the Cowboys should give the ball to MBIII at least 11 times..They are 27-4 when MBIII carries the ball 11 times or more..
5)..Chris Canty signed as a free agent with the NYG in the off season..He is out for Sunday's game
6)..The son of The Saudi Crown Prince is a big fan of the Cowboys..also friends with JJ and former President GWBush...He has a plane painted blue and silver and will be at the game in owners box..
7)...TGI Fridays has a deal if someone hits the video board with a punt..Free green beans fries for all..Please don't hit it ..Please..
8)...Brandon Jacobs(RB Giants) says the reason he hates the Cowboys is because they have so many fans. "Everywhere we go, it is Go Bid D. That is why I hate them."
9)...Finally in the latest week of corner back shuffle..Orlando is starting and Mike Jenkins is on the sidelines.

Cowboys Avoid Blackout

The deadline is Thursday at 7:15 PM EST. Regardless of tickets left the game is going to be shown."No blackout" was announced by local NBC affiliate Channel Five. The lifting has brought it's share of controversy.

League rules state a game must be a sellout by 72 hours prior to the game. There are around 1,200 tickets remaining for the game against the New York Giants. Those tickets are prime seating and come with a healthy PSL(personal seat license) and by releasing them to the general public the Cowboys have done two things. They have guaranteed a sellout and at the same time angered nearby season ticket holders who paid thousands of dollars for their PSL'S.

Two such season ticket holders from nearby Flower Mound are typical of the anger voiced by others. While understanding why the Cowboys are putting the tickets up for sale. They are at the same time dismayed that people right by them will just walk up and buy a ticket. The ticket available won't come cheaply. Priced at $239, a pair of tickets with taxes and fees will cost $495 and that doesn't include parking or concessions.

The Cowboys are expecting over 100,000 people for the game. This is mainly because of the Party Pass ticket, sold for $29, that are standing room only. The Cowboys have designated approximately 180 square feet on party platforms. They are spread out over the stadium with the main platforms in the end zones.

On a related note the Cowboys are also expecting it to be loud. Tony Romo when asked said it ought to be a real advantage and couldn't wait until the first game. Meanwhile Brandon Jacobs, a admitted Cowboy hater, said they should have chosen the Detroit Lions. Following the talk from the Baltimore Ravens from last season, that the Cowboys chose them because it seemed like an easy win. In actuality the NFL chose the Giants for the opener.

NBC is downright giddy to be carrying the game. Proof being the Today show will telecast live from the new stadium Friday.

NFC East Winners and Losers

The Battle for the NFC East has begun. Every week I will give you my winners and losers. Sometimes winning and losing have nothing to do with the scoreboard.

Plus every week there will be a winner and loser of the week. The winner and loser may be the same team. Just stick around we have that exact scenario this week.

Dallas Cowboys Winners

When you win on the road in the NFL that pretty much assures you winner status. Dallas did what they had to do, WIN. They started slow but as the game moved along they played better and better.

The Offense at the start seemed rusty and penalties slowed what momentum they had on early drives.Near the end of the first half, things started to click. Romo started to throw on target and Tampa Bay, who had been selling out with eight and nine man fronts got burnt three times on long passes. I would still like to see more of a running game but all in all a good performance.

The Defense didn't do much early. Post game, head coach Wade Phillips, blamed the scheme they were in early. He said they were too active and got caught in the wrong blitz or formation several times. When they went back to the basic 3-4 they played much better, proven by Cadillac Anderson's numbers. He rushed for 97 yards on the day,but on 20 of those came in the second half. The defense had no sacks but did hit QB Leftwich on numerous occasions.

New York Giants Winners

Early on it looked like NY was going to blow out the Washington Redskins. They ran and passed at will. Their defense scored a TD and NY looked like a team with the best record in the NFC last season.

Things got out of hand late in the game and the Redskins made a game of it late. Still a good win for NY and their new receivers look like they are keepers.

Philadelphia Eagles Winners and Losers

They won the game. The dominated the Carolina Panthers on the road. The defense looked like the unit that destroyed the Cowboys 44-6 last season.

Then late, Donovan McNabb goes down with a rib injury. I have read conflicting reports of him being out from playing next week to out four weeks. If he misses time, that could swing the balance in a tight division

Washington Redskins Losers

Nothing seems to have changed in DC. The offense is still challenged and inconsistent. Their QB Jason Cambell seems at times totally out of his league. They did rally late but that was too little too late.

Then again, winning on the road in the NFC East is nothing to be ashamed of.

Ranking the performances I would go with the Eagles, Cowboys, Giants and then the Redskins.

The weeks winner and loser is the Philadelphia Eagles. Destroying Carolina on the road makes them the weeks winner. Losing McNabb makes them the weeks loser.

Cowboys Win..Yipee..Cowboys Lose..Yipee

My University of Texas Longhorns defeat the University of Wyoming Cowboys 41-10

The Longhorns started slow, mainly because of the 7000 foot altitude. They rallied after the Cowboys got their only touchdown of the day by blocking a punt. A throw from Colt McCoy to Kurkendall was on target and the receiver made some great moves and showed remarkable balance to score.

From there it was downhill. The Cowboys could manage no offense and the Horns wore them down. Undefeated, two and O and a revenge game awaits the Horns in Austin against Texas Tech..

Hook em Horns..

The Dallas Cowboys defeated the Tampa Bay Bucs, in Tampa 34-21

Tony Romo threw for 345 yards, a career high, and had three touchdowns to three different receivers. It is the 14th time he has had three td's in a game but the first time he has had three different receivers.

The defense lookes a little off. They allowed more yards against the Bucs than they did in any game last season. Wade accepted the blame. He said they used too many defensive formations in the first half. The trimmed it down, basically going with their base defense in the second half. It worked. Cadillac Anderson ran for 97 yards, but only 20 in the second half.

Next Sunday night the Boys move on to their home opener against the Giants.

Go Cowboys
